Daniel’s Story

During the COVID lockdown in China, Daniel discovered insect protein while searching for sustainable alternatives to broken food systems. Prices were high, production slow, and innovation stuck.

 

      He thought: “There has to be a better way.”

Fast forward a year  - back in the UK, Daniel started experimenting with crickets in his parents’ home. There were successes, disasters, and one unforgettable moment:

 

the whole colony of crickets died due to a mistake.
 

but That accident led to a breakthrough innovation - now a key piece of Bug Poop’s IP.

Since then:

• Daniel taught himself electrical work

• Built prototypes in a shed

• Secured two Innovate UK grants

• And kept pushing because the mission mattered

Andrew’s Story

Andrew brings structure and operational brains.

He worked in food safety and operations, and later joined a major public-funded insect food project where he met daniel. 

 

He joined Daniel for one reason: “Insects are one of the few scalable, circular tools we have for a sustainable future.”

Together, Daniel’s speed + Andrew’s method = a resilient, balanced founding team.
