The raw frass edge
Cricket frass is uniquely suited to supporting plant defence signalling because it is raw, pure and concentrated.​

Published scientific research has linked chitin and its derivative chitosan to increased trichome density and richer aromatic compound profiles.

In the root zone, microbes and enzymes convert long-chain chitin into signalling molecules such as chitin oligomers and chitosan, which plant roots detect through specialised receptors. Without these microbes, these signalling molecules cannot form.

Because BUG POOP is unadulterated and never heat treated, its natural microbial community remains intact and active int he root zone. Crickets also live above their frass, so the material collected is almost entirely frass and shed exoskeleton - not feed residues such as bran, which can make up over half of frass from other insect species.
